The Ladies Tea has been a tradition at Muhlenberg for over 15 years. The purpose of Ladies Tea is to empower and encourage the ladies of Muhlenberg Job Corps Center to make healthy and intelligent choices. Ladies Tea is a day for female students to have a day of pampering and relaxation, followed by a catered lunch, team building activities, and a panel of female leaders in the community that speak to female students about education, career choices, relationships, and self-awareness. Ladies Tea is held annually in April.
“Some people are never gonna clap for you but you got to win anyway” was just one of the many inspirational quotes written by Dr. Brittney Hernandez-Stevenson, Muhlenberg Job Corps Center’s keynote speaker for this year’s Ladies Tea. Hosted by SGA and staff sponsorship, this year’s Ladies Tea proved to be a very successful event. Hernandez-Stevenson, Madisonville Community College Campus Director, spoke to students with encouragement and empowering advice. A native of Muhlenberg County, Hernandez-Stevenson serves her community through organizations such as the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Felix E. Martin Advisory Council, President of the Muhlenberg NAACP Chapter, and United Way of the Coalfield Board of Directors, just to name a few.
Hernandez-Stevenson concluded her powerful speech by citing quotes and relaying to our students, “Never doubt that you’re valuable and powerful, and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.” ~ Hillary Clinton.
