The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center was called upon by the Rochester City Council to construct a community softball park.  John Austin, HEO Instructor quickly accepted the task.  Austin and 6-8 students at a time have worked on the field since the beginning of May.  Sue Hammers, council member stated “they are so grateful for our program because the work is free and the council could not afford to fund this project.”  The students are working diligently leveling the inner and outer fields, digging drain trenches, digging holes for power poles, and installing fencing.  The Center thrives on opportunities such as this because it allows the students to obtain hands-on experience in their heavy equipment operating trade.   The students are proud of their work, and proud to be able to give back to the Rochester Community.
