Muhlenberg staff and students celebrated Disability
Awareness Month by hosting the production supervisor
and two production workers from the Opportunity Center,
a workshop for adults with disabilities. The guest speakers
told how it is to live with a disability and be snubbed,
ridiculed and turn down for jobs in the work world. They
stressed the importance of accepting people as they are
and not make judgements based on their disability. One worker,
who has been blind since birth, said learning how to
work on the assembly line at her Opportunity Center was the greatest
thing that has ever happened to her. MCDC students
and staff gave the workers a standing ovation at the end
of their presentation.
