Muhlenberg Job Corps student learns skills at Chamber
Hannah Hamilton came to the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center in January 2013 from Crestview, Florida. During her enrollment she has become a top leader and has completed the Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide, and Medical Office Support trades.
At this time, Hannah is taking full advantage of the centers’ Work-Based Learning program while working with Ms. Dorothy Walker, Executive Secretary at the Greater Muhlenberg County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Walker stated “I have been using students through the Work-Based Learning program for over ten years. They always come with good skills, sometimes they just need a little encouragement to use and improve their skills. Hannah is a great worker. She has great office skills and is a great people person. There is no job that she won’t attempt. I also like the fact that she interacts so well with other members of the chamber.”
Hannah’s future plans are to continue her education at the Madisonville Community College and within five to 10 years she sees herself working as an RN. When asked what she would tell others about Job Corps she said “Job Corps has not only helped me academically, it has also helped strengthen my leadership skills and life lessons. My Work-Based Learning has helped me improve my communication skills and given me more experience in a workplace setting. Job Corps is a great opportunity, and if anyone has the chance, they need to take it.”
