As the majority of Job Corps Center’s nationwide remain closed with the ongoing COVID pandemic, increased guidelines left some students at Muhlenberg Job Corps Center over the Christmas holiday. In an effort to keep both students and staff safe by limiting exposure it was mandated there would be no off center travel for the few residing students throughout the holiday season. A counselor prompted students with a “wish list” activity telling them it was for Distance Learning participation credit when in reality it was research. Staff across different departments as well as some community members and staff families came together in one mind to get creative with ways to makes those lists a reality. From the cafeteria taking requests of favorite meals to the Academic Manager’s father making wooden gingerbread houses for the students to decorate and the multitude of gifts received by each student there is no doubt they felt MJCC was a home away from home this Christmas.
