Muhlenberg Job Corps graduate Charles McCarron spent 10 months at the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center, and credits his wellbeing to his decision to commit to the Job Corps program. In his short time with MJCC, McCarron completed the remainder of his high school credits, received his diploma, earned his American Welding Society certification, and completed his OSHA 10 certification. With his work ethic and credentials, McCarron had no trouble finding a job doing exactly what he loves to do — welding. This wasn’t just any job, but the one job he had set his sights on from the beginning of his career journey – working for Brewer and relocating to Muhlenberg County. Castillo completed his education at MJCC in June, and immediately began working for Brewer.
When asked about how Job Corps has impacted his life, McCarron said, “Before I came to Muhlenberg Job Corps I was homeless. I literally had no place to go. Job Corps changed my life. I would recommend it to anyone, as long as they know what the opportunity means for their life, they should take advantage of it and use it to better themselves.”
McCarron’s supervisor, Terry Nofsinger, expressed a high regard for his Job Corps recruit. “He is an outstanding worker, and all around great guy. We love him!” said Nofsinger.
The sentiment is mutual. McCarron knew from their first encounter that he wanted to work with Nofsinger. He completed his first day of work based learning with the company while still a student at MJCC, and as soon as he left, he told one staff member, “I want to relocate to Muhlenberg County and I want to work for Brewer”.
“Brewer is a great company. They treat people well. They pay me good. It is the best work environment I have ever had. I love my job!” Said McCarron.
MJCC Welding Instructor, Charles Wiseman says of McCarron as a student, “He was one of those guys that no matter what, if you needed someone to do something, you could count on him to do it, and he is an exceptional welder!”
Way to go Charles! You are an MJCC shining star!
