Gardiner finishes Medical Office Support program, earns certifications
Katherine Gardiner finished the Muhlenberg Job Corps job training program with a long list of accomplishments, credentials and job skills she needs to launch a career.
That’s far different from her life before enrolling in Job Corps, when she was bouncing between fast food jobs.
At Muhlenberg, Gardiner completed the Medical Office Support program, became certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Electronic Health Records, and passed the Medical Office Support National Boards. She also studied at Madisonville Community College, working toward an associate degree.
Gardiner also took on leadership roles at the center, serving as a recreational leader, vice president of the Garden Club, president of the Journalism Club and a member of the Fishing Club. She also was the catcher on the center’s softball team.
While Gardiner is still working with our Career Transition Services team due to the difficulty of finding gainful employment during the COVID-19 pandemic, she says, “I am fortunate to have come home with more knowledge. Job Corps was a great experience, and the people I met at Job Corps have become my lifetime friends. While on campus, staff members were very gracious and were constantly supporting me. The students whom I had befriended have still been here for me despite these hard times.”
