CVS Pharmacy Representative Visits Muhlenberg Job Corps

Mike Romesburg, Lead Manager of Workforce Development for CVS Caremark Pharmacies, visited with Muhlenberg Job Corps Pharmacy Technician and Clinical Medical Assistant students at the Muhlenberg campus recently.  Romesburg gave a detailed description of what a day in the life of a CVS Pharmacy Technician would be like.  He discussed what it is like dealing with customers and the skills needed.  He said, “CVS is looking for an employee with proper credentials, someone who understands customer service and has proper grooming.”

Romesburg told the students four main topics weigh heavily in a CVS interview: Teamwor /Leadership, Customer Service, Problem Solving and Initiative.   He discussed how to apply for a job with CVS including the online application process.  Romesburg said students completing the Job Corps program with a Pharmacy Technician Certificate may have an opportunity to work for CVS.  Those who possess the Job Corps certificate and pass the National Pharmacy Technician Certified Board exam (PTCB) are likely to be hired where a position exists.  Those with the PTCB usually advance with the company in a meaningful career.  Those hired without the PTCB will be placed in CVS’s in-house training program and will be given the opportunity to study for and pass the PTCB exam.

CVS one of the leading pharmacy chains in the United States.  With the aging U.S. population and baby boomers beginning to retire in record numbers there will be a rising demand for qualified Pharmacy Technicians in the near future.
