Richard Sawyer was enrolled at the Mississippi Job Corps Center for 11 months. During this time he obtained his GED and completed the Security & Protective Services Trade. He shipped with the United States Army on the 25th of February, 2009 to Fort Sill, OK where he received his basic training as a Field Artillery Automation Tactical Data System Specialist. Richard Sawyer was home recently from his assignment in Kadar; Afghanistan went he stopped by the Mississippi Job Corps Center to visit with Staff and students. Everyone was surprised and delighted to see him. Richard said being on Center is very special to him because he remembers the different activities, his friends and the feeling of home. He will soon be returning to Afghanistan and taking all of the Center’s best wishes with him.
