Students at the Milwaukee Job Corps Center are participating in the “Start Young Initiative”. This program is a collaboration of the Department of Labor and Small Business Administration to give Job Corps students the opportunity to learn the skills of Entrepreneurship. The students are each creating a business plan that will be able to be used in their future plans to start a company of their own. The students are being taught by Ms. Jennifer Ring from the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation. This organization promotes and assists entrepreneurs from around the state. The center’s young entrepreneurs have creative ideas and are working hard to develop their business plans. They will present these plans to community partners and staff as part of a competition later in March. Student Jewrena Sims stated, “Being an entrepreneur requires a big imagination! And I’m learning a lot about how to bring my imagination to reality.”
