Eduardo Sanchez-Crisostomo, a student of Milwaukee Job Corps, was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the US when he was 2 years old. Eduardo lives with his parents and two siblings on the near south side of Milwaukee where he attended Veritas High School. Eduardo is a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient and was able to enroll in the Milwaukee Job Corps Center in September of 2018. Eduardo heard of Job Corps from one of his aunts who graduated as a Certified Nursing Assistant from the program in 2016. Eduardo expressed his interest in the Welding trade and upon entering the program he enrolled. The Job Corps Center has provided Eduardo with personal and professional growth, along with independent skills that will help him in a long-term career.
Through the training at Job Corps, Eduardo was offered an internship at Weil Pump in Cedarburg, WI. Weil Pump has a long history of being in the forefront in the design and manufacture of centrifugal pumps for construction, industrial, commercial, and municipal applications. All of the castings are poured in the US and all parts are machined and assembled in their manufacturing facility in Cedarburg, WI. After the Job Corps center closed, due to the Covid-19 Safe At Home order from the Governor, Eduardo was hired as a welder at Weil Pump and has been working since. The Job Corps Center provided transportation to and from the site. Don Anderson, his supervisor, stated, “Hiring Eduardo was an easy decision since he showed discipline and the willingness to learn new things on site.”
Job Corps is a free education and training program for individuals ages 16-24 of which is run by the Department of Labor(DOL). There are 125 Job Corps Centers through the US including Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
