Thirty-two Milwaukee Job Corps Center students volunteered to support the local annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Back-To-School Festival which provides local youth with free book bags packed with school supplies. Local youth who are unable to obtain the necessary back to school supplies are able to register for the book bags at a day long event sponsored by the King Advisory Inc. The student volunteers exceeded the expectation of the committee by assembling thousands of book bags in one afternoon. As a result, the two day volunteer activity was completed in one day. The sponsors of the event were so impressed by the work ethic of our students that they have offered to provide “Letters of Recommendations” for them and provided each of them a book bag. The students enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the community.
