The Miami Job Corps Center has been a proud sponsor of the Miami Gardens Police (MGPD) Basketball Team. Since the Spring of 2011, the team had on-going practices in the center’s gymnasium, and on April 14, the Battle in the Gardens Fundraiser teamed the MGPD detectives against the operations crews on the basketball court. Proceeds of the tickets benefitted the “Serving Those Who Serve” Police Officer Assistance Trust. In the end, the detectives may have taken the ball in defeating operations 85 to 67, yet both sides came out winner’s benefitting such an honorable cause!  The center’s Security and Recreation Departments hosted the event, and our Student Government Association (SGA)  Ambassadors kept score and managed the concessions stand.  The event also reinforced strong community and government linkages for the center.
