Hope, Joy and Giving with District 1 Food Drive

The spirit of giving was in the air as volunteers pitched in to make this year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive at the Miami Gardens Landmark Center a remarkable one.   Miami Job Corps students were proud to be part of the line-up of community ambassadors who helped make a difference with this year’s event that provided turkeys and fresh produce for the holiday season to those really in need. The drive was collaborative project sponsored by Miami-Dade County’s Commissioner Barbara Jordan of District 1 and businesses such as Whole Foods Market, Landmark Aviation & Falcon Trust Air, 100 Black Men, Contractors Resource, World Waste Recycling and Slip N Slide Records.

Beneficiaries included local District 1 Schools, churches and social service agencies as well as local residents. Other highlights included live footage taken by Channel 78 that featured the Commissioner with the Miami Job Corps student volunteers for TV broadcast.
