Y2Y Team Kick Off Meeting Spurs New Anti-Bully Ideas – New Hampshire Job Corps Center

Peer to Peer Coordinator, Carmen Jimenez leads the first Youth 2 Youth meetings at New Hampshire Job Corps this month. Student members of Youth 2 Youth include:
Christopher Dennis, Shakala West, Anthony Richard, David Aguirre, Andrew Sorrention, Maricella Rich, Emily-Any Bacon, Tori Kelsea, Siguard Kohlin, Kadegia Williams, and Chasity Moore.

Students are already hard at work living out the mission and purpose of Youth to Youth: promoting a safer community. Students have even created a new slogan for Youth to Youth here on center:

“Youth to Youth – Find the Truth”

Other student ideas that have come out of these initial meetings include:
A priority on addressing the culture and environment of the Center first, because “If we can’t make a positive change here, how can we help others? We need to help ourselves before we can start to help others.”

Students also hope to establish a pen pal program with different middle schoolers soon, and possibly speak at nearby middle schools. They believe, rightly so, that violence and bullying start before High School, and so education should begin as early as possible.

Our Y2Y students are very passionate about getting involved with our center and are excited about implemented their positive and thoughtful ideas. Stay tuned for more on Y2Y at New Hampshire Job Corps Center!
