Masonry Students at Loring Job Corps Annual Fundraiser for local children and families.

The Cement Masonry class will be doing their annual holiday fund raiser where they raise money to by gifts for needy children and families in the “County”.  For those of you that aren’t familiar, this is how it works; Staff members can select a beautiful acid stained and sealed concrete garden bench or birdbath made for a small donation.  This is only for a few weeks and we can only make so many, so it’s first come first serve.
Once all the money is collected the cement students will go shopping and the students buy gifts for the children in need.  The shopping done is based on info from local agencies such as, the Battered Women’s Project, Catholic Charities, and local schools and churches. They tell us a child’s age, gender and some things they need such as winter clothes, the students then buy what ever is needed and also pick out some pretty cool toys to go with the clothes for each child.  Over the last 6 Last years we’ve raised about $10,000.00 and bought gifts for approximately 145 children under the direction of Masonry Instructor David Tardie.
