On August 30, 2011 Loring Job Corps Center will be having a celebration to honor our student’s successes for the 1st National Job Corps Commencement Day. It was the goal for the majority of the Job Corps Centers in the United States to have graduations and celebrations of our student successes all on the same day. We have invited local partnering speakers, congressional members, representatives and LJCC staff to share this occasion on Tuesday morning at 8:00am at the Loring Job Corps Community Center Ballroom. All students will be attending and all staff is invited.
Since Jobs Corps was created 47 years ago, it has served more than 3 million out-of-work young adults and underserved youth nationally. Many high-school dropouts or public assistance recipients, and Job Corps help them become active contributors to their communities. Approximately 60,000 students complete the Job Corps program each year at one of the 124 centers across the country. Nationally, about 86% of Job Corps graduates go on to find and keep jobs, continue to higher education or enlist in the military.
Loring Job Corps Center has enrollment of 380 students year round and offers vocational training in Medical Office, C.N.A., Cisco Academy, Culinary Arts, Auto Technician, C.D.L.( Heavy Truck), Masonry, Painting, Electrical and Carpentry. On the academic side if needed, GED’s and High School diplomas are obtainable along with advanced academics with the partnership with Northern Maine Community College that is offered for qualifying students.
