August 13, 2012 – Congressman Michael Michaud Visits LJCC
It was privileges to have Congressman Michael Michaud attend the LJCC to meet with Student Government students along with students from several of our vocational trade offering for an informal round table discussion. The Congressman introduced himself to every student and asked their names where they were from and what their vocational training was at Loring Job Corps. The conversations were truly engaging especially when the Congressman discussed his background as a mill worker in rural Maine and the importance of education and training for young adults. Along with Congressman Michaud was Barbara Hayslett, his District Representative. The tour also included a tour of the Cement/Masonry and Painting shop, where the Congressman graciously met all the students and instructors and was given a brief overview of the vocational training offered. It gave our students an opportunity to discuss the training they were receiving and allowed them to show our Congressman some of the current projects they were working on. All of our students were polite, professional and represented the Center and program to the highest level for they were truly excited to meet the Congressman.
