The Business Community Liaison, Pamela D. Buck of Loring Job Corps Center attended the annual Aroostook Day at the Legislature on the evening of March 14, 2012 in Augusta, Maine. As a member of LEADers, encouraging Aroostook Development, this was a relationship building opportunity between Aroostook County and the County Legislative Delegation and House and Senate Leadership.
Every LEAD member spoke representing their business and/or affiliations. Ms. Buck spoke on LJCC mission, goals and the successes of their students, community involvement and the constant support it has had with the congressional supporters. In attendance from the Maine legislature included:
John L. Martin – House Representative
Peter Edgecombe – State Representative
Bernard Ayotte – State Representative
Roger Sherman – State Congressman
Troy Jackson – State Congressman
Following the meeting several state representatives expressed circumstances in which they have been impressed with our students work ethics and leadership qualities. Another point mentioned by our representatives included the realization the quality of vocational training provided and how the comprehensive programs increase long-term job placements for our youths.
