Students of the Loring Job Corps Center scrubbed the winter film off the area automobiles to raise funds to aid the Japan disaster relief efforts. Since that dreadful day of the Japan Disaster my auto students have been watching the news daily on the events that have taken place. Students saw the devastation of homes being swept away, no heat, food, water, lost friends and family members and students have been in similar situations and expressed concern for their losses. Most vocations on this center are fortunate to contribute to community service in the local area, because of our trade and the logistics there isn’t much we can do for community service stated their Auto Technician Instructor, Dana Jones. That is where the car wash comes into play which was suggested by a student. Many times the students have seen or heard of their fellow students in other vocations doing service for the local towns and local charities. We have the facility to do the service and CARQUEST of Caribou is donating the materials. 14 staff members made donations totaling $140.00 that brought their car to be washed, this will be just the beginning of more car washes to come!
