Handicap Ramp Community Service Project

The Carpentry Students were asked to join a community service project to assist with completion of building and attaching a handicap ramp that was initially constructed by students/faculty at the Northern Maine Community College. It will serve an individual who has MS. The ramp is constricted in three sections: two ramp sections and a platform. It will be delivered to the site in Westfield, ME. Each section needs about 6 individuals to lift/set in place. The legs are constructed of 4″ x 4″ pressure treated post that will need to be cut to the appropriate height. The project too three full days to complete.  It was stated by one of the requesting partners that “I woefully underestimated the scope of the installation of this ramp! But Mark Brewer, Carpentry Instructor and his crew are real troopers in getting the work done, including working in the rain”.
