Holiday Cheer brought to area children from Loring Job Corps Center student volunteers

On the evening of December 2, the Caribou Recreation/Wellness Center and the Caribou Chamber hosted  their annual Tree Lighting and Gingerbread House making event that also included decorating gingerbread cookies and visiting Mr. & Mrs. Claus. Over 1000 residents from the area attended with their youngsters eager to build their Gingerbread houses, decorate cookies and have a visit from Clauses. Jenny Coon, Caribou Chamber of Commerce Director invited LJCC student volunteers to attend the event as her helpers for the evening.

The students from Loring Job Corps assisted with the gingerbread cookie decorating with the local youths and also dressed up as Frosty the Snowman and an oversized Gingerbread man for the occasion. Everyone, the children, their families and all volunteers had a wonderful time and everyone left with smiles on their faces. All the students that participated at this event requested the next day if there were any more opportunities before winter break they could do as well for they had a great time being involved within the community!
