Several students from Long Beach Job Corps Center spent time with youth patients at the Child Life Center at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, California. The students, who were were accompanied by their instructor on Friday, October 21, 2011, helped them have fun and forget about being in the hospital, even for just a while.
The students spent time in a colorful room painted blue to look like the sky on a beautiful day outside . The room was filled with children and materials for crafts projects. The goal of the activity was for the Job Corps students to engage the children in crafts, games, and conversation and help them have fun. It worked. Everyone ended up having fun and spending Make a Difference Day doing something meaningful. Mission accomplished!
