USC and Odle Management are developing the USC/Job Corps Long Beach Home Healthcare Aide program, including recruitment, marketing, student processing, career technical training, curriculum and certification.
USC, through its federally funded USC TRiO Programs, will oversee the implementation of the program by recruiting high school graduates to participate, developing marketing brochures to highlight the partnership objectives and providing ongoing support to students.
Following an orientation and documentation processing, the Long Beach Job Corps Center will work with the selected students to complete their career technical training.
The remaining 15-week course, a rigorous curriculum designed and conducted by the USC Davis School of Gerontology, has been approved by the State of California Health Services Department. Students passing the state test at the end of the course will receive two certificates: one from the State of California Department of Health and one from the University of Southern California Continuing Education.

Since 1976 the USC TRiO Programs have been providing comprehensive outreach services and opportunities to create social change in our communities and schools. Through a partnership with the university, schools, and community, TRiO promotes educational opportunities in Southern California, specifically in the South Central and Central Los Angeles areas. This resulted in the successful completion of college and university degrees by thousands of deserving students who otherwise may not have pursued a college education.
ODLE Management’s President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa S. Odle: “I am very excited to be in partnership with the University of Southern California and the profound education, training and excellent opportunities for career placements, for the young adults we serve in southern California. Our partnership with USC Government and Civic Engagement is the ‘first step’ towards a long-standing and a true model of collaborative work with the educational community.”
