Long Beach Job Corps Students Help New Community Partner

Mr. Ronnie Schaffer, Long Beach Job Corps Center’s Automotive Instructor, took students to the American Gold Star Manor in Long Beach, California to perform a clean up and storage activity that will make room for a needed medical screening room. The project was one of several in which the students made a difference in the community on October 21, 2011.

American Gold Star Manor is a non-profit established for the purpose of providing a home for National Gold Star Mothers. Gold Star Mothers are women who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country

‘Being a part of helping our Veterans’ families and understanding what a Gold Star Mother is  and the history of it, along with being able to see the original housing, gave the students a sense of pride,” stated Mr. Schaffer.

The manor is located just 2 miles away from the Long Beach Job Corps Center.
