The Long Beach Job Corps Center’s Facilities Maintenance class was the first group to leave the center and the last group to return. They spent the day at the Euclid Rehab, a Habitat for Humanity project in Lynwood, California, as one of several Make A Difference Day projects the center undertook on October 21, 2011. The students were accompanied by their Facilities Maintenance Instructor and the Work-Based Learning Coordinator, who each worked on the project, too.
The project consisted of students using their painting skills to beautify a row of townhouses in need of repair. The existing structures were not old, but had been vacant for some time and in great need of some care. The students, who remained quiet all the way back to the center, seemed satisfied with their work as they boarded the bus after a long day of work that made a difference.
