Long Beach Job Corps Center and Equity Residential, a company that manages apartment communities,  have worked together and the result is full time jobs for some Facilities Maintenance students.  

A process is in place whereby the Long Beach Job Corps Facilities Maintenance Instructor and Work-Based Learning Coordinator  recommend students for an internship. A company representative interviews them and if they do well on their interview, the  students complete a six week internship of  hands-on training under the guidance of  an experienced service manager. After satisfactorily completing work-based learning at the company, students were hired as Service Technicians. 

“The students’ eagerness to apply what they learned, a hunger to learn more, and desire to perform helped them get hired,” stated Ms. Jana Frazier, a Recruiter with Equity Residential.
