Little Rock SGA Hosts its First T.E.A. Party

On Tuesday October 6, 2015, the Student Government Association (SGA) held its first monthly T.E.A Party. T.E.A. stands for Training Ethical Atmosphere: Our purpose is to train and instruct our female students into young ladies focusing on morals, ethics, diversity of women, strengthening and issues that are important to the young ladies here at Job Corps. Our first meeting was on Breast Cancer Awareness with a guest speaker Mrs. Karolyn Taylor, who happens to be the wife of our own Maple Dorm Supervisor, Mr. Terrill Taylor. Mrs. Taylor is a breast cancer survivor and shared her experience with the female students and staff. Wellness Manager, Ms. Samantha Norwood, also spoke of the facts about breast cancer and the importance of doing self breast exams and getting a mammogram. Each student received a bag with several pink goodies in it including a calendar to assist them with keeping track of when to conduct their self exams.
