The Center Director Angela Rackley, Peer Leadership
Coordinator Ledra Brown, and the SGA Executive Board had
an amazing visit to the Arkansas State Capitol on Thursday,
May 5. Arkansas State Representative Fredrick Love invited
Ms. Rackley and the SGA to sit in one of the last days of the
House Legislative sessions; passing appropriations bills. The
day began with the Speaker of the House, Rep. Jeremy Gillam,
officially welcoming Ms. Rackley and the
LRJCC SGA. The students were so excited
and honored to be recognized, sit in on the
session, and also receive a tour and lunch.
In addition to watching and listening to the
process and votes that occurred during
session, the students were given a tour of
the State Treasurer’s Office by Chief of
Staff, Jim Harris, and a visit to the vault.
The Center Director and each of the students got
the opportunity to hold $400,000 in cash.
Students reported feeling rich for 60 seconds.
Center Director Rackley and the SGA want to
thank Rep. Love, Speaker of the House Rep.
Gillam, and Mr. Harris for their support, time
and wonderful hospitality. They all Rock!!
