LRJCC Kicks Off Great American Cleanup

Little Rock Job Corps Center Kicks Off Great American Cleanup Along with Keep Little Rock Beautiful on March 10th. Second annual citywide effort promoting litter pickup, community improvement.

LITTLE ROCK, AR.- (March 10, 2011) Little Rock Job Corps joined Keep Little Rock Beautiful (KLRB), a certified local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful that is hosting its second annual citywide cleanup to promote litter pickup, recycling, beautification and community improvement in the capital city. The Great American Cleanup in Little Rock is part of the largest community improvement effort in the nation, the Great American Cleanup, which takes place annually from March 1 through May 31 involves an estimated 3 million volunteers nationwide. Sixty-five volunteers consisting of students and staff from the center has taken action and adoped Scott Hamilton and Wakefield Park for improvement by picking up litter and any sprucing up needing to be done in these areas. Students walked up and down Scott Hamilton and Wakefield Park picking up litter, tree limbs along with any other items presenting eye sores to help beautify the community. Students and staffof the center were greeted with television cameras from KATV Channel 7, KTHV Channel 11 and KARK Channel 4 covering Job Corps involvement with this great event. Grenda Dawson interviewed by KTHV Channel 11 stated, “I’m so happy to be a part of this event. I love giving back to this community that has given so much t me. This helps to make feel really happy by taking pride in where we live. Also, this helps to save our planet.” Little Rock Job Corps is definitely helping to keep Little Rock beautiful.
