Little Rock’s Mentor/Mentee Showcase

During Black History Month, the staff mentors collaborated with their student mentees to learn and share information about different important African American people in history and their contributions. The mentor/mentee groups got very engaged in this project.
They showcased their learning in several different ways on Feb. 29. Seventeen groups engaged in songs, skits, reading, drawings and collages. Not only was a high level of commitment shown, but the groups displayed spirit of enjoyment throughout the presentations. All of the groups that participated demonstrated that learning can be engaging and fun.
Among the individuals highlighted in the group presentations were Richard Wright, Ida Bell Wells-Barnett, Daniel Hale Williams, Robert Johnson, Elijah McCoy, Jack Johnson, WB Purvis, Garrett Morgan, Ed Scott, Chuck Cooper, Bobby Marshall, Hattie McDaniel, Ira Aldridge, George Cook, Josh Gibson, Crispus Attucks, Samuel C. Taylor, and Scott Winfield Bond. The groups are looking forward to collaborating on another project next month.
