Little Rock Students Tour Historical Sites

Recreation exposed the students to an educational and information round of tours and discussions on Feb. 13. They visited the historic Little Rock Central High School and the Little Rock Nine memorial. The students were able to have a visual to connect with our discussion around that historical time and the trailblazers that were involved.
The students also visited the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis on Feb. 14. The museum is built around the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. The students learned a lot of interesting history on Dr. King and other important figures and events surrounding that culminated into the Civil Rights movement (i.e. sit-ins, bus boycotts, marches, and rallies).
