On June 17th, twelve students and four staff joined together in collaboration with the Arkansas Martin Luther King Commission (AMLKC) to clean up a neighborhood park and community. The project was initiated by the AMLKC in efforts to unify partnerships, uplift community members and build better community harmony. LRJCC participated by cleaning up Crump Park and 33rd Street from the intersection of Arch Street to MLK Drive. The temperature was over 95 degrees that day but students and staff gave their best effort to give back and provided a worthwhile and needed service to a well deserving community. Channel 11 News (KATV) provided news coverage and aired some of the staff and students in action. One student stated that it gave him a “sense of pride to be able to help someone else.”
