Little Rock Job Corps Security Students Raise Flag in Remembrance of Iwo Jima

The Security Trade students participated in a flag raising ceremony on Feb. 23 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. The ceremony was to honor the veterans with a flag folding ceremony and then the raising of the flag.
The raising of the flag is symbolic of the flag being raised on Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. The historic photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal of five United States Marines and a United States Navy hospital corpsman raised the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi, during the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.
