Little Rock Job Corps held a Commencement Ceremony for 90 students on Feb. 26. The commencement speaker was Arkansas State Representative Fredrick Love of Little Rock. Representative Love represents district 29 of Arkansas, which includes part of Pulaski County and is now serving his third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. His speech focused our attention on achieving our ABC’s.
A—Your Attitude determines your altitude.
B—Believe in yourself and do your best.
C—Have Courage to step out and use your skills and talents that you developed at Job Corps.
D—Demonstrate all three attributes and make an impact so the world knows that you received a quality education at Job Corps.
Also in attendance were Josh Mesker of U.S. Congressman French Hill’s office, Shane Fletcher of U.S. Congressman Tom Cotton’s office, along with several other community partners.
Ebony Webb and Katlin Oltmer served as the Commencement Valedictorian and Salutatorian respectively.
Community partners that were given special awards were: Principal Katie Tatum of SIATech Charter High School, for their partnership with the center and assisting students achieving their high school diplomas, Sara Drew, Executive Director of the Literacy Action of Central Arkansas, for their role in servicing and supporting students of the center, and Angie Miller with the Arkansas Nursing Academy, for their role in training our Nursing Assistance students.
KARK Channel 4 and KATV Channel 7 were in attendance filming the event.
