The 2016 Academic Advisory Council Meeting held on Jan. 29 was a rousing success. Hosted by Al Leslie, Academic Manager, the meeting gave Little Rock Job Corps the opportunity to showcase and highlight the successes of the past year and the vision for the future. Every area of the center was represented and the slide show presented by Center Director Angela Rackley gave guests an excellent overview of Little Rock’s mission and determination. After a brief overview of Academics by Mr. Leslie, Social Development Director Willie Funches spoke about evening programming and dorm life. Deputy Center Director Ruby closed the program with an affirmation of Little Rock’s desire to develop stronger academic bonds with community partners and a discussion of how these ties would be mutually beneficial for all.
It was Little Rock’s pleasure to host community partners. Attending partners represented an array of opportunities including: Shorter College, Goddess Products, and SIATech. Our guests were introduced and welcomed by the Student Government Association President RaeJae Robinson and Vice President Kaitlin Oltmer. As usual, Chef Heard and the culinary students provided an excellent meal and exceptional service. Kudos to all students for treating these guests in an exemplary manner and reinforcing the spoken words of Ms. Rackley by exhibiting excellent employability skills.
