As the process of finding and keeping a job can be difficult and overwhelming for everyone, the Laredo Job Corps Center hosted a 3-day program to help educate our female trainees on basic techniques to build greater self esteem and awareness in their preparation for transitioning to the world of work.
With the help of Mrs. Judith Balter, President of Balter Company as well as several successful business women from our community, the three day program began on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 when the Female Residential Advisors hosted a “Bienvenida Merienda” to welcome and honor Mrs. Balter to our wonderful city and center.
On Thursday, August 11th a day of fun filled activities began with an 8 hour workshop at the Laredo Job Corps Center Auditorium. Our students received trainings on “How to dress for a job interview”, “Attitude controls everything” and “How to set goals” all trainings as well as various presentations and mock interviews conducted by Mrs. Balter, local employers and LJCC staff. Their constructive feedback provided our students with important information that will help them to locate and maintain a job.
On the last day of “Dress for Success” program, Friday, August 12th, the Laredo Job Corps Center hosted a Fashion Show with female students and instructors participating as models. Please click here for pictures http://www.vivalaredo.net/laredo-social-scene/fashionshow@jobcorps
