Youth 2 Youth Performance for Peace

Kittrell Job Corps Center students share anti-violence messages and resources with local youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson, NC on March 30, 2016. The Center’s Youth 2 Youth group promoted peace through an interactive, anti-bullying play. Youth 2 Youth/Partners 4 Peace, (Y2Y) , is a violence-prevention initiative created by and led by Job Corps students nationwide.  Kittrell Job Corps Center is dedicated to preventing violence on its campus and in the community. “ I feel that our play was a huge success, the message that we took to the community was well        received”, said Felicitas Perez Rodriguez, Y2Y Ambassador President.  Participation in this effort was local middle school and high school students that attended at no cost.  Approximately 65 were in attendance.  Members of the  Center’s CRC attending             included Dolly Burwell from Congressman GK Butterfield’s Durham, NC District  Office, Henderson Mayor, Eddie Ellington, City Councilwoman Marian Williams and others.

Police Officer M. Wilder with the Henderson Police Department provided the welcome and introduction.
