On April 15, 2016, Kittrell Job Corps Center students demonstrated their commitment to addressing the needs of the community and its citizens. They joined millions of youth to participate in Global Youth Service Day activities nationwide. Students volunteered to assist the St. James Baptist Church working along side the Henderson Collegiate School students in a citywide food give a way, assisted the Kiwanis Club with its annual azaleas fundraiser and conducted a litter sweep/cleanup at Fox Pond Park in Henderson, N.C. The food was sponsored by the Food Bank of Central and Eastern N.C. This event was very beneficial, over 625 persons received boxes of food “I’m from Henderson and I am mighty grateful to help the citizens in my community,” said David Moore, Culinary Arts Trade student.
