On August 10, 2016 Kittrell Job Corps Center partner with the American Red Cross to host a campus blood drive . It was held in the Center gymnasium. Students and staff donated, helping the American Red Cross chapter replenish the low inventory level. A total of 103 students and staff donated blood. “At the age of six I was involved in an auto accident and received a blood transfusion that saved my life. I’m here today, giving to save lives,” said Dwayne Washburn Culinary Arts student. The Career Technical Training Trade students from the Nursing Assistant and the Medical Administration Assistant coordinated the event. They registered students, distributed materials and served snacks. “Working in this blood drive is a big deal to me, knowing that we are able to help save lives. I’ve had many family members that needed blood and the American Red Cross has helped a lot. I enjoy working and helping out, it’s a blessing to others,” said Rayneeka Miller, Medical Administrative Assistant student.
