On May 5, 2016, Kittrell Grad-90 students were celebrated with a luncheon in their honor. Student Felicitas Perez-Rodriguez shared her experience on center and provided advice to the group on getting involved in center activities. Felicitas served as the Y2Y President and encouraged students to get involved in leadership. She closed with these words: “Have a plan and don’t allow yourself to get stuck. Work toward your goals every day.” Felicitas will be transferring to the Gary Job Corps Center on May 17th to enroll in the TCU Program.
Vance Granville Community College Work Keys Instructor, Tonya Sneed spoke with the group about the advantages of attending a Community College prior to enrolling at an University. One of the benefits, she explained is having smaller class sizes. “You will get more one on one assistance at a Community College. At a University, the class sizes are usually more than 300. There are also more grants available at the Community College level to help pay for classes.”
Three North Carolina CTS were on center: Michelle Johnson, Shawn Scott and Curtis Wilson. They shared their expectations from students when they graduate. They encouraged students to take advantage of every resource available on center while enrolled to become employed, enlist in the military and enroll in college.
