Beating the Odds Seminar Held at Kittrell JCC

March 31, 2016, BCL Director and Social Development sponsored a Purpose 4 Living Inc, Beating the Odds Seminar. Kelly A. Arrington the founder of Purpose 4 Living Inc is a former Job Corps graduate joined by her subject matter Expert Coach, Patricia Burton and Mark Thomas, Motivation Coach also a former Job Corps Graduate.

Ms. Kelly A. Arrington, Mark Thomas both shared their Job Corps experiences and encourage them to stay away from negativity and surround themselves with others that are smarter than them.

Ms. Arrington expressed that this was her way of giving back to the program that saved her life by offering students the opportunity to participate in the “Beating the Odds” $500 Scholarship.  Students are to write an Essay to express how they overcame obstacles in their life and how they plan to continue to Beat the Odds. staff will return with Brochures and Posters to display the one page double spaced Essay. Academic standards are not a requirement for this Scholarship, this Scholarship is all about “Beating the Odds” and not allowing your current circumstances dictate your future.
