AmeriCorps Community Relations Associate, Kevin Jones, visited the Kittrell Job Corps Center on February 16, 2016. Mr. Jones spoke to approximately 50 students in three different classes. A total of 42 students signed up to receive additional information and to complete applications. AmeriCorps NCCC is a great opportunity for students to travel around the US (for free), help communities with unmet needs, earn money for college and gain transferable skills that will help them as they start their professional careers. Application sessions will be held next week for students to complete applications. Mr. Jones will be available for telephone support during these times to assist if needed.
AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based residential service program for young adults who want to give back to communities in need at different locations across the country. Members spend 10 months working on 4-6 projects such as: engaging youth, building and rehabilitating homes for families in need, environmental projects, and helping communities recover from disasters.
