On Saturday, August 20th the Keystone Job Corps Center hosted 160 incoming freshmen from Penn State’s Hazleton Campus. The purpose was to assist them with their first service learning project through the University’s orientation program.
Just as Keystone impresses on its students the importance of community service, Penn State encourages their new students to take pride in their community and become involved in volunteerism.
Students were assigned to several projects on Keystone’s picturesque 155 acre campus, ranging from spreading mulch to sprucing up classrooms.
In all it was a successful day. Keystone benefited from the service of Penn State’s students and the incoming Nittany Lions learned about Job Corps and giving back to their community.
