Working with the American Red Cross, students and staff from the Keystone Job Corps Center were quick to volunteer help to victims of late summer flooding in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Assistance began when the center housed 78 Red Cross first responders from across the nation. This was due to a lack of accommodations in the area caused by the flooding. Next a blood drive was organized that collected 111 units. Then with a continued call for help students volunteered to assist the Red Cross with clean-up efforts and bulk distribution of food and supplies.
Justina and Nelly, two of the 32 students who volunteered stated: “with us pursuing a career in health care we felt it was what we needed to do to give back and help our community.”
