Think Pink Thursday

On Oct. 22, Joliet Job Corps Center stu-dents and staff joined forces to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month on “Think Pink Thursday,” the brainchild of student Lisa Bowman.

“I personally know someone who has been affected by breast cancer and felt this would be a great opportunity for students to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Bowman said.

Students and staff were asked to wear pink to show their support and the members of the Student Government Association passed out hand-made pink ribbons for everyone to wear.

According to the Center for Disease Control, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 others die from the disease each year in the United States.

However, it is important to note that although breast cancer screenings cannot prevent the disease, a timely
