Pharmacy Tech’s Health Fair

The Pharmacy Technician Trade hosted its annual Health Fair on March 12.

The students worked extremely hard to prepare and did months of research, studying and practicing to make sure they would do their best and provide accurate information.

The fair included a brand vs. generic game hosted by DAntonio Hillard and Jennifer Gonzalez, and a lesson on healthy eating that was presented by Janise Brooks and Tawanda Smith. To illustrate the benefits of a bal-anced diet, Christian Miller, Kalani Baker and Glennisha Myers had healthy snacks for everyone to try.

Staff and students learned about flu and pneumonia vaccinations from Jordan Powell, and Kylon Hughes explained the importance of the Zostovax injection .

Jason Roberts and Traveon Davies led the participants in calorie-burning sessions, demonstrating six exercises to maintain fitness.

Staff and students could check their blood pressure and pulse rate courtesy of Brejion Ward and Cearia Yarborough. Delki Ruiz and Benjamin Brown taught the crowd about the dangers of diabetes, and Ceira Wade did a presentation explaining the harm of using tobacco. The connection between mental health and marijuana use was explained by Octavia Griffin. Other mental health issues were explained by Aaron Williams, and the dangers of sleep deprivation were covered by Carmalita Simms.
