New Work-Based Learning Partnerships for the Joliet Job Corps Center

The Career Transition Readiness Department is proud to announce new partnerships with the Salvation Army and Juliet’s Restaurant in Joliet. They are the newest Work-Based Learning sites.

The Salvation Army is working with students in two different trades.

The faith-based organization offers the Center’s Office Assistant students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in a cleri-cal setting. Security/MILCAP students will

work with the Salvation Army’s security staff to maintain a safe environment at the downtown Joliet location.

The Salvation Army is a cornerstone of the Joliet community. Its mission is similar to the Center’s — the Salvation Army wants to help local residents grow and develop while equipping them with the tools necessary to live productive lives.

Security student Leianna Sullivan was the first to serve as an intern with the Salvation Army. She enjoyed her experience and learned a lot from the security staff there.

At Juliet’s restaurant, Culinary Arts students will work with Chef Tom Murtaugh and the wait staff. Owned by Chicago res-tauranteur and Joliet-area native Carmen Rossi, Juliet’s opened in the fall of 2014 in downtown Joliet.

Jamound Wallace was the first Culinary Arts student to work as an intern at Juliet’s. During the four-week assignment , he had the opportunity to utilize his newly acquired training and be mentored by a wonderful group of people.

Everyone in the CTR Department is proud of Leianna and Jamound. They are students who are willing to embrace new challenges while following their personal roads to success.
