The Joliet Cob Corps Center recently signed a new certified nursing assistant training contract with the Healthcare Training Institute of Joliet.
The five-week session of classes began on May 16, and the CNA students are excited about the training and eager to learn. Although they realize they have lots of studying to do this summer, they know that acquiring these marketable new skills is worth the work. The students are particularly pleased with the instructors and say they are helpful.
The students already have trained in the following skills:
Introduction to hospital and nursing centers
Introduction to nab equipment
Work ethics
Communicating with health team
Body structure and functions
Care of the older person
During the next few weeks, they also will learn how to prevent falls, the importance of hand washing, how to assess a patient’s vital signs and other aspects of nursing.
