Joliet Job Corps students meet candidates

Joliet Job Corps  Director of Social Development Director Jesse Tucker took about 10 student leaders to a Meet the Candidates Night on Sept. 9 at the nearby Victorian Ballroom on Richards Street.
He was met there by Deputy Center Director Christine Sanchez, CD Administrative Assistant Jill Wilmer and STARS Coordinator Jan Larsen.
The event was hosted by the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Center for Economic Development and Three Rivers Manufacturers Association as a way to meet candidates in the Nov. 2 election.
“The students were impressed to meet some candidate on the state level, like candidates for secretary of state,” said Larsen.
“There were candidates there for county board, county seats like sheriff, state representative, state senator and circuit court. There were at least 25 candidates there and at least 250 people. The Chamber was happy with the community’s response and I was happy to see our students asking good questions and meeting important people,” said Tucker.
